The BID aims and objectives:

- Attract more tourists to the town centre.
- Increase footfall.
- Increase spend per head.
- Improve the presentation and management of the streets.
- Create a safer and cleaner environment.
- Reduce businesses’ vulnerability to crime.
- Ensure better marketing, publicity and events to attract new customers and retain existing.
- Ensure that the voice of business is heard in plans for the future of the town.
- Maximise the benefit of the tourism market by working closely with the tourism industry.
The BID will also help to:
- Increase prosperity for businesses.
- Improve business leadership.
- Reduce property vacancy rates.
- Encourage inward investment and attract new businesses into the BID area.
- Co-ordinate activities for maximum benefit and value.
- Provide opportunities for collective purchasing of services and utilities.
